FAQ
Reasonable questions.
Asked by friends, colleagues, and at least one person who assumed we were already shipping.
Can I buy something?
Not yet. We’re doing the research, sorting out manufacturing, and generally making sure the first thing we sell is worth selling. The test list hears first, and there’s no other way to hear first.
Are you inventing a new sugar?
No. Glucose and fructose have been thoroughly investigated by people far better funded than us. Our work is on how carbohydrate gets delivered, not on the carbohydrate.
What about your electrolytes?
It’s the same salt everyone else uses. Sodium chloride is a solved problem and we have nothing clever to add. Eventually, buying ours will help fund the research, which we think is a better reason than a proprietary blend.
What does FKT stand for?
Fastest Known Time — the unofficial record on a route that doesn’t have a race attached to it. We named the company after it because we like people who go looking for hard things. That includes people whose hard thing is a first half marathon.
Do I have to be fast?
No. The physiology of hour five doesn’t check your splits. If you’re out there long enough to need fuel, this work is aimed at you.
Is this a real company?
Yes. FKT Nutrition Labs, LLC, registered in Utah, with a university research agreement, an actual lab, and a founder who is about to start a business degree to fix the gaps in his own knowledge.
Why should I trust a pre-launch brand?
You shouldn’t, yet. Trust is earned with published work and products that hold up. That’s the order we’re doing it in, and you can watch it happen in Lab Notes.
